Adventureland

Okay, this review is actually being written months after seeing it because we’re slowly getting the domain back on track. I have the blu-ray for it and you’d think I’d just pop it in and get re-acquainted… but no. That’s like two-hours that I could be spending reviewing the other movies we neglected this year.

So here goes. From what I remember enjoying about this movie is that it feels like an 80’s teen movie. Thankfully, it doesn’t bombard you with obvious commercial references too the 80’s,  just subtle dialog and production design where you feel the director is relating his own feeling of the period in which the story takes place.

And that story involves a recently graduated teen who aspires to go to college but can’t afford it like his rich friends, so he takes a summer job at the local amusment park where he meets a quirky group of friends and falls for a girl who all change his expectations about life and learns how to live your life the way it’s meant for you, a similar theme like that of Clerks 2.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie because it’s one of those rare comedies that actually has plot and a heart and isn’t just a string of gags.

Idiot Chittix Hey Spherx, I want to work at an amusement park!
